I just moved VIPRE to a new site server that had been wiped and reconfigured (Win Server 2008R2). As soon as it started updating the agents, I started seeing 'Gateway Anti-Virus Alert: BundleApp.KYQ (Trojan) blocked' alerts from the Sonicwall, with the source being my site server & destination IP 72.21.81.253. The alerts come through every hour at the exact same time, 3 in a row. I've got thousands of them at this point, so I'm relatively certain it is a false positive, but I don't even know how to unblock it without creating security holes. I've already opened the ports as directed by VIPRE documentation. I've been going back and forth for 2 weeks with VIPRE's tech support, and they say 'I believe that the issue here is more on the firewall and not on Vipre. Let us know if you have questions.'

Then they want to know exactly what file is triggering the alert. I don't know how to find the exact file, and Sonicwall's response to my inquiry as to how to do that was 'We do not have provision to identify corrupted file on server causing gateway a/v alerts because firewall only generate the logs and block the traffic if it found any anomaly. It won't scan your local systems.”This is the first time I'm really administering any type of firewall / network, and Google has not been as informative as usual.

I just cannot imagine that the cause of this is anything but VIPRE. I'm immensely frustrated because VIPRE only responds at odd hours, so it's a 24 hour turnaround time for anything with them, and Dell is even worse, taking 2 - 3 days to respond to anything even though we are paying for support. There has got to be an easier way to figure this out.

Can anyone help? Don't know if this will help you at all but The IP looked familiar. Marsydotes what did you end up doing about this? We are having the same issue. The difference is we have one Vipre server that is doing it and one that is not. The one that is doing it is a server that was just rebuilt for one of our remote sites.

I can seem to pin point why the Sonicwall at that site is alerting about it but the Sonicwall at our site is not. When we were building the server, the Sonicwall at this site was alerting for it on the new server as well so that definition is not disabled. There must be something configured differently on that Vipre server in comparison to ours here. I reached to our Support director.
