• 2 Answers SOURCE: Hi, This is before I read this post and answer above. I had the same problem with my Ferguson DAB FRG R121D which was just over 2 years old. First of all it had the display flashing on and off, with popping noise on speaker, then went off completely with faint buzzing noise remaining on speaker. I noticed inside on the board just behind the front panel.the one with the copper screened section on it, taht the 1000uf 10V cap had domed (ie instead of flat top had domed top = usually means it is ccoked).I replaced it with a 1000uf 16V one - can is bigger but fits OK - Maplins part number VH50E (£0.56p!).did the job. Is now fixed but I still have the buzzing noise - so I'll get it open again and change the 220uf as suggested above. By the way you need a smallish Philips fairly long reach screwdriver to get some of the back screws out.

Posted on May 29, 2010. Hello I experienced a similar problem some time ago.

I thought I was responsible for the problem because I run the radio of a dual voltage shaver socket and accidentally switched the socket output to 110v. From that point on the radio did excactly what you described. I perservered in trying to find out why but to no avail so I abandoned it. Some months later out of curiosity I plugged it, switched it on and it worked perfectly. Try leaving it unplugged for a few days (which by this time will have already passed). It may just recover like mine did.
